David H. Shoemaker Named 2021 AAAS Fellow
David H. Shoemaker of LIGO MIT is among the 564 members of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) who have been elected the 2021 Fellows, a lifetime honor given in recognition of the AAAS members “whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications in service to society have distinguished them among their peers and colleagues.” David H. Shoemaker has served as the Director of LIGO MIT, the leader of the Advanced LIGO Project and the Spokesperson of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. He is currently a Principal Investigator and Senior Research Scientist at the MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. His work is focused on instrumentation to enable the observation of gravitational radiation using precision measurement techniques.
The Fellows will be recognized at the 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting in February 2022.
