Peter Fritschel Receives OSA's Charles Hard Townsend Award
The Optical Society (OSA) has announced that Peter Fritschel (LIGO MIT) is the recipient of the 2018 Charles Hard Award. As the Chief Detector Scientist of the LIGO Laboratory, Fritschel is recognized "for advances in quantum-limited precision measurement in the Advanced LIGO detectors, leading to the first direct detection of gravitational waves." The award was presented at the 2018 CLEO Conference in San Jose, California.
